Warren Buffet has had a long, illustrious career in finance and has made himself over $60 billion or more by investing largely in short-term government bonds (about 10% of his wealth) and low-cost S&P 500 investor funds (about 90% of his wealth). Buffett started and has run his company, Berkshire Hathaway since it was founded back in 1965. He built his company’s wealth on the same blueprint which he built his own.
Warren Buffett is now 87 years old and is in “retirement” as he calls it. He was born on August 30th, 1930 and still lives in his birth city of Omaha, which is where his family continues to live to this day. He is enjoying time living in the home he purchased in 1958 for about $31,500. It’s a modest home with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and he continues to be happy there as he was before having an excessive amount of money was part of his life.
Moreover, Buffett states that, yes, he has the money to buy literally almost anything, but at the same time that is not necessary for happiness. Happiness depends on how you view your life and what you make of what you have. It’s more important to have your health and be surrounded by those you love than to have billions of dollars to spend on anything you wish. Buffett might have earned $37 million a day in his career (on average), yet he is happy with it he earned $37 DOLLARS a day.
Buffett puts his emphasis in life on being surrounded by family and friends and having his health rather than just how much money he can make. He also donates a considerable amount to charity and helps those who are less fortunate than he is with the money he makes. In the end, money is a fine thing to have, but happiness is also what you make of your life!
