Warren Buffett’s daughter Susan Alice Buffett is the oldest daughter of Suzie and Warren Buffett. She was born on July 30, 1953, in none other than Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha is the place Warren Buffett has called home all his life. He was also born in the same town. If you think life as the daughter of one of the richest men in the world has been a breeze think again.
Although Susan’s life has not been bad at all she was not raised to be a spoiled brat. No, Warren Buffett said he wanted to give his children enough so they could do anything, but not too much that they would end up doing nothing. Susan studied Home economics at the University of Nebraska. She also studied social ecology at the University of California at Irvine. Warren Buffett thought it important that his kids go through the same process of things as other people.
It is said that Susan wanted a renovation for her kitchen that would cost over $40,000. She asked her father for a loan and he said go to the bank. Susan got the philanthropic bug from her mother. Today she does philanthropy through the Susan A. Buffett Foundation, Girls Inc., and the Buffett Foundation.
Susan has received plenty of money from her father. She also received 10 million from her mother when she died. Her father also has given a billion dollars to her charitable foundations to help others. Her charities focus on women’s health needs, children, and families. She also helps to fight AIDS, poverty, and education.
Susan married Allen Greenberg in 1983. They later divorced in 1995. Her charitable work is the most important thing in her life. She continues to put her father’s money to good use and help others in need.
