Warren Buffett recently sold a private lunch with the billionaire investor on eBay. The auction sold for more than $1 million. When you compare that to some of the past years’ winning bids, you’ll recognize that it’s a bargain.
On Friday, an anonymous bidder submitted a bid for $1,000,100, and it was the winning bid on eBay. The proceeds of this auction go to the Glide Foundation. The foundation is known to help the homeless and poor in the city of San Francisco.
Over the last five years, this auction has generated bids of at least $2 million or more. Last year the lunch went for a record setting $3.5 million.
Warren Buffett has been gradually giving away his money over the last seven years, since 2006. Eventually, he has plans to split most of his Berkshire shares between five different charitable foundations. The biggest chunk of his fortune will go to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
