The 84 year old Warren Buffett is certainly a billionaire, but the funny thing is that he does not spend like one.
Buffett quite famously put Omaha, Nebraska on the map. He bought his house there in 1958. He paid $31,500 and still lives in it to this very day.
According to an enlightening story by Market Watch, he is a longtime patron of barber Stan Docekal in Omaha. He charges Buffett $18 for a haircut, without tip, when he gets a hair trimming every two or three weeks.
Buffett has gotten his hair cut by Docekal for the past 23 years, and his barber is also in his early eighties. Many journalists have interviewed Buffett’s barber throughout the years in a desperate attempt to pick up bits and pieces of information about the Oracle of Omaha. Some of Buffett’s haircut activities include reading the newspaper or his mail, listening to oldies music, reading annual reports and watching CNBC.
Is it a good deal to pay $18 for a haircut?
Truthfully, it is more than the national average of $14 for a men’s haircut, according to a recently published study. But for the 3rd richest person in the world? It’s a steal!
