When Bono and Buffett get together backstage at a Gates Foundation event, what do you think happens? Obviously, they talk about philanthropy! Undoubtedly there was much more to the conversation, but that’s what Sue Desmond-Hellmann, Gates Foundation CEO, shared in a Facebook post.
Apparently an old fashioned gossip columnist is needed in that town, because the media barely noticed a private meeting that went down in Seattle last week between Buffett and Bono.
The same goes for the high powered CEO Summit hosted by Microsoft. For the first time this year, the event managed to completely avoid media attention. But Microsoft did take the annual event much further under the radar this time around. Traditionally, the company used to allow reporters at the event. But things have changed over recent years.
According to a fact sheet released by the company, some top executive attendees were present at the event, and included:
• Spanx Founder Sara Blakely
• Berkshire Hathaway CEO and Chairman Warren Buffett
• JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO and Chairman Jamie Dimon
• Twitter CEO Dick Costolo
• Netflix CEO and Founder Reed Hastings
• Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos
Some topics mentioned during the event included “Rethinking the Consumer Experience” and “Dealing with Data Breaches” according to Microsoft. The event, first started in 1997 by Bill Gates, was attended by over 130 executives from over 30 countries.
