Borsheims helped celebrate the Berkshire Hathaway 50th Anniversary event with a 50 carat fancy yellow diamond.
The main feature of the ring is a 50.02 carat natural fancy yellow cushion-cut diamond made available from Rahaminov Diamonds. The price of the ring when sold at retail is $2.3 million, but the shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway can buy it for $1,725,000.
Berkshire Hathaway, a Rhode Island textile company founded in 1839, was taken over in 1965 by the Buffett Partnership Ltd. The Borsheims ring is celebrating that particular 50th anniversary with this diamond.
The Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholder meeting takes place on May 2 this year in Omaha, Nebraska. Shareholders with have the opportunity to visit and purchase the diamond at the Omaha flagship Borsheims store.
Historically, Buffett w0uld spend some time behind the counter of the jewelry store at some point during the shareholder weekend, but in March of this year he announced that he’s no longer selling jewelry during the big event.
