Berkshire Hathaway unit Geico announced that Bill Roberts has been named Chief Operating Officer and President. Tony Nicely will stay at his position of CEO and Chairman. They both work for the third largest auto insurance provider in the United States.
Bill Roberts “will take on a greater role in managing Geico’s day-to-day operations,” said Tony Nicely, who was recently also the company president.
“I will continue to be very actively involved in the overall management of the company,” added Nicely.
In 1984, Mr. Roberts joined the staff at Geico. He was previously the Executive Vice President of the insurance provider. He is responsible for the company’s telecommunications, marketing systems, internet business unit and advertising. Plus a number of other things as well. Also during his time with the insurer, he held the post of assistant VP and VP of Marketing. He worked out of Geico’s Macon, GA regional office.
Geico currently insures of 18 million vehicles and has more than 12 million customers. Berkshire Hathaway and Warren Buffett has owned Geico since 1996.
