Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance – the most recently launched commercial P/C insurance unit of Berkshire Hathaway – just hired James Roser as the new chief information officer for the company. His new office is located in Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance’s main office which is based in Boston.
Most recently, Roser was the IT head of a global reinsurance, global insurance and associated infrastructure at Markel Inc.
In the past, Roser was once vice president of Alterra Capital, which was eventually acquired by Markel earlier in the year. Prior to that, he spent almost 10 years of his life working at The Travelers in a number of different roles. Those roles include: chief information officer for bond and financial products business, commercial insurance program office/merger integration lead, and VP of information systems. At one time he even worked at the financial and insurance services practice at Accenture, which is a business process and global technology consultancy.
Berkshire Hathaway specialty insurance underwrites on the paper of the parent companies National Indemnity group of companies. They are based out of Boston, and they also have regional underwriting offices in New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Chicago.
