Billionaire investor Warren Buffett turns 83 years old today on Friday, August 30, 2013. But Buffett hasn’t told us whether or not he plans to surprise the shareholders that Berkshire Hathaway with a big celebratory acquisition.
Last year on his birthday Buffett made an announcement in regards to plans to significantly increase the amount of stock that he plans to give his children’s three charitable foundations.
For the most part, the Oracle of Omaha in joys celebrating his birthday by hunting for deals and reading business reports at the office. He enjoys running Berkshire Hathaway so much that he really hasn’t even considered retiring.
Overall, Buffett’s summer was relatively quiet since Berkshire Hathaway acquired half of H.J. Heinz Co., the ketchup maker back in June. The company spent a total of $12.25 billion for their portion of the Heinz deal, but they still had $35.7 billion on hand for the next big purchase as of the end of June.
