Berkshire Subsidiary to Build Wind Farm in Nebraska

Officials tell us that a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary has plans to build a 400 MW wind farm in the northeast of Nebraska and then they plan to sell this power to the Omaha Public Power District.

BHE Renewables, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, purchased Grande Prairie Farm from Edina, Minnesota’s Geronimo Energy. BHE did not disclose the price of the purchase. Geronimo had purchased this company from a developer in Chicago back in 2013. The other companies have obtained permits, arranged leases and finished other steps in development.

Construction is projected to begin on-site this summer, which is located about 12 miles northeast of O’Neill and is expected to be finished next year.
