Berkshire Hathaway Formerly Takes Ownership of The Press of Atlantic City

Berkshire Hathaway and Warren Buffett have formerly taken control of The Press of Atlantic City.

The change in ownership at the newspaper was officially completed this past Saturday, August 10, 2013.

Last month, BH Media Group and announced that they were going to buy the Atlantic City newspaper from Abarta. This is a private firm in Pittsburgh run by the Bitzer and Taylor families. Both families owned The Press going all the way back to 1951.

The financial terms of this deal have not been disclosed as of this time.

The newspaper currently has a daily circulation of 67,000, and the Sunday circulation is 77,000. The newspaper is based in Pleasantville, New Jersey, which is just outside of Atlantic City.

Mark Blum, the new publisher of the newspaper, was the controller between the years 1989 to 1993. The interim editor is Peter Brophy.
